Where do you live? What made you want to contribute to help raise funds for an animal shelter in Nova Scotia?
I am from Pennsylvania, but now live in Huntsville, AL with my hubby, 3 rescue pups and two rescue cats.  I’ve participated in the Paws For Charity Art Book for the past 3 years because I enjoy using my artwork to raise money for animals in need.  I continually participate in local animal fundraisers by offering either a gift certificate or original work of art.  In 2013, I was one of five local artists selected to paint a fire hydrant to be auctioned off during the Greater Huntsville Humane Society’s Dog Ball.  I love to see my artistic creations raise money for the animals!

What are some things, people, or places that inspire you?
I’m often inspired by a beautiful photograph of an animal, those photos where the lighting is just right and you can see the deep soulful eyes of the cat or dog.  I’ve also been inspired to paint an animal because of their story, either happy or sad.  I like to use my paintings to bring attention to their story or special need.

Do you ever find yourself in a creative dry spell? What do you do to get yourself inspired?
Yes, there are times that I find myself in creative dry spells or times when I just need to step away from a painting because it isn’t progressing the way I want.  I turn to jewelry making to break out of it.  I have my own line of jewelry called Megan Marie Jewelry.  My website is www.meganmariejewelry.com and I’m on Facebook at www.facebook.com/MeganMarieJewelry

Do you have any creative mentors?
My creative mentor is Patricia Eldridge.  I saw several of her paintings after we moved to Huntsville, AL in 2005.  I absolutely fell in love with her watercolor paintings, especially the ones of pets with angels and her sea life paintings.  I started painting watercolor pet portraits after being inspired by Patricia’s work.  Patricia has also participated in The Paws For Charity Art Books.

Thanks for your continued support with this project Megan!
