Claire Garrett
Crunchie The Poser by Claire Garrett (
Claire started Petography in Perth, Western Australia in 2009 and has never looked back. Her photographic style is best described as unique and modern. Claire donates her time weekly to several rescue organisation in her area, believing that the right image can help an animal find their forever home that much sooner.

"I love that my photos bring joy to people - if they can help raise money for a worthy cause as well then that is a huge bonus. I absolutely love what i do and know just how lucky I am to call this my job (though it really doesn't feel like work!) and am so thrilled to be able to give back." - Claire

"Crunchie" is available on postcards in the Paws For Charity Etsy Shop. Printing of Paws For Charity cards are paid for by the artists...that means that ALL proceeds from the sale of our cards are donated to charity. Thanks Claire!

Angie Ketelhut

Angie Ketelhut
Pup and Kitty © Angie Ketelhut      www.artbyangie.c
Angie grew up in the Midwest USA. Her childhood was a bumpy one, with a series of painful losses. Pets and creating art were a steady source of comfort and solace from the very beginning of her life and remained with her throughout uncertain times. With her expressive painting style and use of vibrant colors, she strives to capture and honor the furry friends who bring so much joy and happiness to our lives. Angie has sold her work nationally and internationally and offers custom portraiture through her website: She now resides just outside of Seattle, WA with her husband, son, and bubbly Boston Terrier.

"Animals have always been a large part of my life and I enjoy painting portraits to honor them. There are so many dogs and cats needing food, warmth, and shelter. Participating in this great project is a small way I can help raise funds for furry friends in need." - Angie

This is the third year that Angie has participated in our art book project. "Pup and Kitty" is available on postcards in the Paws For Charity Etsy Shop.

Lori Rowe

Lori Rowe
Beauregard by Lori Rowe (

Lori's artwork is available on postcards and greeting cards in the Paws For Charity etsy shop. All proceeds from the sale of her cards are donated to charity.

Lori Rowe was brought up in a Navy family near the quaint sea port of Mystic, Connecticut.

Lori attended the University of Delaware where she studied Veterinary Pre Medicine and Animal Bio-sciences. In 1993, she met the man of her dreams and set off on an unforgettable journey. Lori, her husband and their animals embarked on a 17 -year road trip where their 40’ RV became their ‘home away from home”.

After completing two careers in diverse fields, She followed her heart and began to paint. With no formal training, Lori’s passion for life and animals was the only inspiration needed to create her art that can be seen all over the world.

The Emirate of Abu Dhabi proudly displays artwork by the award winning Lori Rowe as does The Millennium Hotel, The Chrome Rooster restaurant, two Book publications and various calendars and greeting cards.

Lori’s medium of choice is watercolor with a hint of acrylic snuck into the mix to create texture.

Although the majority of her philanthropy revolves around helping animals in need, Lori is also involved in fundraising for foster children. In her spare time, she and her husband can be found driving transportation legs for Cruzin’ Critters where they have helped over two dozen animals make the transition from kill shelters to no-kill facilities.

Lori and her husband have finally established roots in North Chicago where they share their 109 year-old house with their beloved pets: Maggie (18), Sox (5), Finnegan (9 1/2 months) and Cooper (8 1/2 months).

"God gave me the gift of painting and the love of animals and humans. It is my job to do the best I can with that talent. Its a privilege to paint for the charities I believe in." - Lori

Cynthia Lynn

Cynthia Lynn
Christmas Dinner by Cynthia Lynn (
Cynthia Lynn has had a love for dogs her entire life. It wasn’t until after receiving her BA from Columbia College Chicago, that she decided to take her carrier into pet photography. She travels throughout the year photographing places, spaces and everything in between. When home in Chicago, she photographs people, pets and whatever else comes her way. Photography is the only outlet that not only allows her to create, but also share her skills with others. Her three biggest fans are her husband and their two rescue dogs.

"My husband and I have two rescue dogs. Without the help of an animal shelter, they never would have been a part in our lives. We are eternally grateful for the fate that has brought us all together. I’m honored to be part of a book that supports the possibility of giving any animal, a forever home." - Cynthia

A couple of Cynthia's photographs are available for sale in the Paws For Charity Etsy Shop on blank postcards and greeting cards. Cynthia paid for the printing of the cards, so ALL proceeds from the sale of our cards are donated to charity. Thanks Cynthia!

Riley, Sara Harley, and Myrtle (from SHAID) with the 2012 Paws For Charity Art Book

From this week's Lunenburg County Progress Bulletin, written by Lisa Brown:

You might say it’s one paw helping another.

Upper Branch resident Sara Harley has created an art book filled with photos of dogs and cats to raise money for SHAID animal shelter in Whynotts Settlement.

The 80-page book features work from 66 photographers and artists in nine countries, all beautifully displayed in full colour with information about the photos and artists.

It’s a project of Paws for Charity, an effort which began about six years ago in Ontario when Ms Harley and three other women with dog-related businesses joined forces to raise funds.

After moving to Nova Scotia, Ms Harley decided to continue the work.

This is her fourth art book in as many years, the third featuring dogs and cats. In 2009 and 2010, proceeds went to breast cancer charity.

Last year, she took the book in a different direction. Instead of depicting animals, she went with more general photos to inspire people going through difficult times. That money went to the Rose Fund, a local charity which assists cancer patients.

It was her own connection with SHAID, in the form of her recently adopted cat Myrtle, that brought her back to Paws for Charity and prompted her to direct funds to the animal shelter this year.

Ms Harley wasn’t certain how artists from far and wide would react to such a local charity, but was delighted to find her concerns unfounded.

“They’re animal people and they’re willing to help with the cause,” she says.

The book can only be purchased on-line on an on-demand basis. It became available last month and sold 85 copies in 10 days, reaching number 2 on the publisher’s bestsellers list.

The Paws for Charity art book is available on-line at

Information is also available at

Ms Harley also makes available postcards and greeting cards featuring some of the photos. Again, all proceeds go to SHAID.

Plans are already under way for next year’s book with artists and photographers asking to participate.

“I am fortunate enough to be retired,” Ms Harley says, “and I like to give back. I have the luxury of being able to live the lifestyle I live, … so whenever I can I like to become involved in projects that help other people.

“I would love to help out at SHAID, but I know I couldn’t. My heart would be broken every day.”

Ana Maria Hernandez B

Ana Maria Hernandez B
Untitled by Ana Maria Hernandez B (
Animal photographer artist, Ana Maria Hernandez-B of funpoochfoto says “dogs are her best buddies and cats her fascination”. Originally from Caracas, Venezuela, Ana calls North Carolina home, where she lives with her husband and their furry kids: Boton, the handsome Lab, and Bertie, the spoiled kitten. After working many years as a therapist and clinical psychologist, Ana began her artists’ pathway more than nine years ago and she recently started her animal photography business, funpoochfoto, in Greenville, NC. Ana studied photography with the New York Institute of Photography. She also volunteers her photography services to the Pitt County local shelter (PCAS) and to the local Humane Society (HSEC).

"Having a close relationship with animals and photographing them is one of my greatest joys in life. When I make a photograph, I connect to my subjects and I capture what I am able to see and record. When I create “art”, I connect with my emotions and “handcraft” my images to complete that emotion. I call that my "fotoxpression". My quest is to grow as an animal photographer artist and as an animal rescuer. I am very thankful for the opportunity to be part of this wonderful project and to contribute to raise funds for SHAID through my craft, photography." - Ana

Ana's photograph is available as a postcard in the Paws For Charity Etsy Shop. Ana paid for the printing of the cards, and donated a number of cards to Paws For Charity. That means that ALL proceeds from the sale of the cards are donated to charity! Thanks Ana.

"I love being able to capture that image of what someone else is looking at, at any one particular moment in time.Whether I'm working in any one of my favorite mediums oil, watercolor, pastel or pencil,I have to paint . I want to share my vision of what I see in front of me with everybody." - Adriana
