Originally from California, Kecia Deveney is a mixed media/jewelry artist and amateur photographer, who now resides at the Jersey Shore. Drawing inspiration from her life experiences as the mother of a severely disabled child, she channels that energy into learning and creating art. Experimenting with “reclaimed discardia” results in many unique pieces of storytelling art.

Kecia has participated in both years of our Art Book Project. "Pretty As A Present" is featured on page 30 of the 2010 Paws For Charity Art Book.
“In my art, I am inspired by vintage items and flea markets. I find it challenging to recycle these older items into something new, exciting and interesting. I especially love it when people say that they found something hidden and meaningful in my work.” - Kecia

2011 Calendars are ready!!

Calendars can be previewed and/or ordered at this link:
http://www.lulu.com/product/calendar/2011-paws-for-charity-calendar/12786613

Calendar Cover:
I have received my test copy of the 2011 Paws For Charity calendar and it is fantastic! Packed with 72 images of dogs and cats supplied by photographers and artists around the world, and all proceeds from calendar sales go directly to The Avon Foundation Breast Cancer Crusade, a registered charity with programs in over 50 countries. This charity also carries the Humane Charity Seal of Approval.

January:Following the recommendations of a couple of our participants, I created the calendars on Lulu.com. The quality of the printing and the paper is top notch....very heavy duty paper (100 #) with a glossy type finish. The quality is so much better than the company I have used in the past to create my own calendars that I'm switching to Lulu for my photo calendars this year.

June:
I also chose Lulu.com to produce the calendars because they print calendars "on demand". This means that the calendars get printed as they are ordered, and we don't have any worries about unsold (and unpaid for!) calendars. Lulu looks after the printing and the shipping....and they will be sending all the proceeds directly to the charity (Avon Foundation Breast Cancer Crusade).

Calendars can be previewed and/or ordered at this link:
http://www.lulu.com/product/calendar/2011-paws-for-charity-calendar/12786613

If you purchase before September 30th, you can get 20% off by using this code: FALLPHOTO (you must sign in to Lulu to get this discount)
I believe there are also discounts when you order more than one calendar.

October:
Let me know what you think of the calendars...this is the first year that Paws For Charity has created one.

Lynn Hanousek is a pastor, teacher and artist living in New York City with her husband, Bill. They travel the world together as their hobby and share their lives with a delightful assortment of kiddies and kitties. Lynn supports a number of animal charities through her Etsy shop.

"Kitties In Love" is featured on page 68 of the 2010 Paws For Charity Art Book.

Information from Lynn's etsy shop:We are very happy to announce that we have received permission to be an official part of the clean up effort in the gulf through the Louisiana Marine Mammal and Sea Turtle Rescue Program (LMMSTRP). Audubon Nature Institute is the coordinator of LMMSTRP. Audubon holds the Louisiana state permit to rescue, rehabilitate and release marine mammals and sea turtles. Because the animals cannot be released back into their native habitat, they must be housed until the Gulf is safe for release. The rescue and rehabilitation of each sea turtle is estimated at $5,000 for equipment, supplies, medication and veterinary staff time. http://www.auduboninstitute.org/gulf-oil-spill-resources

50% of the purchase price of all "Matthew an Me Turtle" paintings will be donated to this cause.

50 % of the other sales in our shop will help support Etsy for Animals' charity of the month. EFA's September Charity of the Month is Defenders of Wildlife http://www.defenders.org/about_us/index.php

“Companion animals are near and dear to my heart. That's why I'm thrilled to be a part of this project. Over the years we have provided forever homes for a variety of cats who have out lived their humans.” - Lynn

Kate Green

Kate Green
KateGreenPaintings.com

Kate Green began painting dogs after finding a dog starving to death on a country road. So saddened that anyone could allow this to happen to such a beautiful animal, a painting seemed a suitable way to honour Pepper - now one of Kate's own very loved dogs. Kate began painting commissioned paintings in 2006, mainly of dogs, and has now completed over 150 dog portraits. Kate's commissioned work also includes portraits of horses and people. She also paints non-commissioned work of domestic and wild animals, nests and the natural world.

Kate's painting "Pepper" is featured on page 63 of the 2010 Paws For Charity Art Book. “All animals, but particularly dogs, give me so much joy. To paint them and share my love of these wonderful beings with the people who see my work is a great honour.” - Kate
