With a BA in Media Arts and Design from James Madison University and a background in advertising, Kristin spent the first seven years of her professional life working as a graphic designer and art director for several agencies on both the East and West coasts. Having always had a passion for animals, she created a portrait of her own dogs on a whim for her husband's birthday a few years back. With the unique modern style and simplistic but bold colors, the portrait was a hit among friends and it was only a matter of time before word spread, her business grew and she was able to leave the world of advertising to focus on a job she truly loves. Kristin is a Virginia Beach, Virginia local, loves dogs, photography and all things “beach”. She lives with her husband, Shawn, a sweet-natured border collie named Sam and an energetic but extremely loveable pit bull named Makai.
Kristin's portrait of Makai can be found on page 9 of the 2010 Paws For Charity Art Book.
"If there is one thing being a pet portrait artist has shown me, it is how strong the bond between pet and owner can be. I love learning more about those relationships and hearing stories from all over the country on why each person's pet is so special to them. Every portrait comes with a sense of actually getting to know the animal and hearing the joy of a satisfied client is such a rewarding experience. Being able to combine that with a such a wonderful project for charity is just the icing on the cake. I couldn't ask for a better job. " - Kristin
